The SHRM Certification Preparation Course

M-TEC in The Groves Campus of KVCC

This eleven week professional development program, offering 3.3 CEUs, is designed for two audiences:

  • Participants preparing to take the Professional in Human Resources (PHR®) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®) certification examinations administered by the HR Certification Institute; and

  • Participants seeking continuing professional development and a broad overview of the field.

The M-TEC in The Groves Campus of KVCC program has an outstanding record of participants passing the certification exams. Year after year the pass rates exceed the national averages!

The program uses the SHRM Learning System which is updated annuallywith current HR policies and legislation. As a professional development tool, the Learning System can increase a participant's knowledge of the field of human resources and provide current reference of HR practices. As a certification preparation tool, the Learning System has a measurable track record of success for those qualified to sit for the exam.

This course is offered in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The course investment includes all course materials but does not cover registration or exam fees for the PHR or SPHR examinations. By enrolling in this course, you'll benefit from:

Course Details

The SHRM Certification course is offered twice per calendar year. Classes begin each February and September. For more information, call 269.353.1285.

Course Content

The SHRM Learning System course features printed workbooks, over 1,500 test questions, an Online Resource Center, an interactive case study, and the SPHR Preparation Book, designed especially for SPHR candidates.

What will you learn? The key to success of the PHR/SPHR certification and the SHRM Learning System is the relevance of the content to the needs of today's HR professionals. Course Requirements

There are no admission requirements to take this course, however certain criteria must be met for participants taking the PHR or SPHR exam. See exam requirements below.

PHR and SPHR Exam Requirements

To apply for either the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), candidates must have a combination of education and professional HR experience. For more information, see the Certification Handbook or visit www.HRCI.org.
